Announcing the ArtistDataPress plugin for WordPress

ArtistDataPress shows your shows calendar on your WordPress blog and automatically matches your theme!

If you’ve been using ArtistData and didn’t care for their iFrame calendar widget, I’ve got the solution for you: ArtistDataPress!  I wanted a way to display my band’s calendar on their site and on mine, but the AD iframe widget could only be styled once, which left my site with a calendar that didn’t match the rest of my theme.  ArtistDataPress takes the raw XML shows feed and makes it into an easy to style calendar for any page or post.  There’s even a sidebar widget!  You can choose what parts of the show information you want people to see through both the page and widget options.  You can download it from the WordPress Plugin Directory. You can read up on the plugin, it’s features, and get the FAQ on the plugin’s page.

    1. Yes, you can hide it using CSS.  In your theme’s CSS file (or in the plugin’s style.css file), add the following:

      #slushman_adp_artistdata_logo_link {
      display: none;

      If you want the one in the sidebar widget hidden, use this one:

      #slushman_adpw_artistdata_logo {
      display: none;

  1. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/rjhowson/public_html/wp-content/plugins/artistdatapress/inc/adp_widget.php on line 249
    Just started getting this today…renamed the folder and downloaded fresh, getting it again…any suggestions? Anyone else getting this?  It’s taking my whole site down!

  2. I’m working on the error.  I thought I was going to fix an older error and ended up creating an even bigger one!  For now, I’d say log into your site over FTP and delete the plugin.  I should have an update out very soon – there’s one little thing I have left to figure out with it before I can issue the update.

  3. webmaster9/rhhowson & slushman – i had the same error. using WP 3.2.1.

    ftp to your site like he said to wp-content/plugins and delete the artistdatapress directory. i downloaded v.2 and installed that version, and i’m back up and running.

    learned my lesson not to upgrade a plugin (or WP in general) without testing it on a test site…

    slushman, i do love the plugin, please let us know when v.33 is up 😉

  4. Hi Slushman, greetings from Iceland!  I am trying to lauch an art and photography project to inpire world peace and encourage environmental awareness. We are asking people all around the world to take a photographs or make art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, dance, music, poetry, video….etc…..) each month in the year 2012. The site is still in BETA testing and currently we have the capability of members having an “album” but that only allows them to upload photo’s.

    You have been writing such great plugins and so I thought you might be able to give me some advice on what is the best way to go about having the functionally of letting members upload, video links and text docs to show off their submissions. The should only be able to upload 12, one for each month.

    You can see my testing page here:

    The main site is

    I also need to have the function of a “Vote” or “Like” button on each members page and a way for me to see who has the most votes.

    Sorry Slushman, I am just a dreamy eyed artist and not a techie, so any help and advice you could give would be wonderful.

  5. Hi There….Shalom from Israel!  Question for you:  Our site has a black background and the top line of each gig (Date, Venue, City/State/Country) has a grey/white bold line over the text.  The text is white so it’s tough to read this way.  Suggestions?

    Also, the “ticket” links show up inconsistently.  Sometimes it says “Tickets” and the price.  Others it has huge URL links.  I entered all of the data the same way, so curious as to why it is appearing this way.

    THANK YOU for creating this plugin.  Artistdata saves me HOURS of repeated data entry every month. Now we’re almost able to use Artistdata for our website too.  Its much appreciated!

    Jon 🙂
